Bead Loom

by Mary Dennin

Tension looms are one of the most common tools for creating beadwork. This type of loom was first used by Native Americans to create quillwork pieces. With the introduction of glass beads, looms were converted to create beautiful beaded items.

This handmade miniature wood loom features tiny charlotte-cut beads, painstakingly woven onto the loom. The exquisitely fine needle is left in place. The beadwork represents a contemporary powwow design incorporating the the colors of the 4 directions traditional to the Lakota people.

Loom measures just over 2" (5.3cm) long. The 7-strand beadwork measures a mere 5/8" (8mm) across. A truly extraordinary museum-quality piece for your miniature collection.
