4 Steps to Selling on eBay
Page 2
Step I: Pictures, continued
C. If the picture needs any touching up, things erased, etc., use the Rubber Stamp tool.*Save your picture. The more you get used to this tool, the more you'll use it and the fancier you'll start getting - blending edges, copying borders, getting rid of zits or red eye or lamposts or exes in your photos - it's like being god of your own little world! lol...
- Move the cursor over the area/color you want to copy, and hold down the button at the bottom near the space bar (whichever one makes the cursor change color), then click the mouse on that area. Then release the button and mouse, and move the cursor to the area where you want to paste, and start clicking. You can do multiple clicks, you can click and drag, etc. You will notice a little crosshair following along the area being copied so you can tell what's being pasted over. Select new areas to copy as needed.
- Remember you can always use the Undo command if you mess up, or just rubber stamp over a mistake.
- Select "Brushes" in the Window menu to choose different sized brushes, this lets you copy big areas at a time or little tiny areas. If you copy big stretches at a time, you'll start to see regular patterns appearing from having the exact same area copied over and over - a little rubber stamping of a new selection here and there will break that up visually.
D. Go to Image Size in the Image menu.
- Make sure the resolution is at 72 (for pictures to be shown on the web - for photos you want to print it should be higher, but we won't get into that now).
- Then adjust the upper settings on that panel, the pixel size - for eBay, try to keep it to 350-400 max on it's longest side. Pick one to start with and click ok. Then select View Actual Size in the View menu to be sure you are seeing it at the size it will be on screen. If it seems too big or small, select Undo in the Edit menu, and go back to Image Size and try a different size.
- Once you are satisfied, write down the height & width (pixels) for later reference, and save your pictures in JPG format (be sure the file ending is included in your file name, and no spaces, so it looks like this: Picture01.jpg ).
Step II: Upload Pictures to your AOL FTP space
I will be updating this shortly to include information about free photo-hosting sites for your pictures.
Go to keyword FTP on AOL. Once you are in your own FTP menu, click the Upload button. Enter the name of your picture file - make sure it is exactly correct. Also, AOL will not allow spaces in the filename so be sure you named it appropriately, and put the file ending on it (.jpg). Make sure the "Binary" option is selected, and click Continue. Select the picture file on your computer, and click Send. Do this for all your pictures. The address for each picture (which you will need for your eBay HTML) will be:
http://members.aol.com/YourScreenName/Picture01.jpg
To delete a picture, highlight it in your FTP menu and then click the Utilities button, then Delete.
